About Our Cafe
Hala Tree Café is a farm-to-cup coffee shop located in KaÊ»aÊ»awa on OÊ»ahu’s windward coast.
Situated just across the street from the ocean, Hala Tree Cafe is the only place on O'ahu to get the best 100% Kona coffee grown and roasted on our farm in Captain Cook on the Big Island. With both indoor and outdoor seating, it's an ideal spot for relaxing after a hike, catching up with friends, or working remotely.

Our café serves a selection of our own coffees, brewed to highlight each lot’s unique characteristics. We also offer a small food menu that includes housemade baked goods and fresh sandwiches made-to-order.
Whether you're stopping in for a latte and a biscuit on the way to work, joining us for breakfast or lunch, or just looking for a cup of great coffee and a place to take in the ocean view, we’re here to serve coffee that’s honest, expressive, and connected to its source.

Downstairs from the café is The Coffee LAB, our dedicated space for tastings, classes, and hands-on coffee education.
We host guided tastings for visitors, as well as training sessions for baristas, home brewers, and professionals who want to deepen their understanding of Kona coffee. From beginner-friendly brewing classes to advanced roasting workshops, the lab is where we share what we’ve learned—and keep learning ourselves.
About Our Farm
At Hala Tree Coffee, we grow and produce 100% Kona coffee on our farm along the slopes of Mauna Loa on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. Every part of the process - from cultivation to final roast - happens under our care, right here at the source.
We take a hands-on approach to quality. Our team selectively hand-picks ripe cherries, uses carefully developed processing methods, and roasts each batch in our own lab. Whether you’re brewing a classic washed Kona or one of our experimental lots, every coffee we produce reflects the same commitment to craft and detail.

We also believe that you should know where your coffee comes from. That’s why every bag of Hala Tree Coffee includes a QR code that connects you directly to the story behind your cup. You’ll see the specific lot it came from, how it was processed, and what makes that coffee unique.

When you choose Hala Tree, you’re getting more than just Kona coffee. You’re getting a direct connection to the people and practices behind it.
About Kona
Kona is one of the most recognized coffee-growing regions in the world - and for good reason. This narrow belt along the western slopes of Mauna Loa has produced distinctive, small-lot coffees for over 200 years. But what makes Kona relevant today goes beyond its history.

This is a region defined by hands-on farming and close community ties. Most Kona coffee is still grown on small farms, where the same people who care for the trees also handle the harvest, processing, and often the roasting. At Hala Tree, we’re proud to continue that tradition - while also helping shape what comes next.

We’ve built a full tasting and roasting lab on our farm, where every coffee is evaluated before it’s released. We explore new processing styles, collaborate with coffee professionals around the world, and offer training and cupping sessions to deepen the connection between producers and customers.

Kona is not just a place where great coffee has always been grown. It’s a region where dedicated producers are actively working to raise the bar for quality and traceability - and where the future of specialty coffee is being shaped in meaningful ways. We’re proud to be a part of that story.
