At Hala Tree Cafe, every coffee we serve begins on our family-owned and operated farm in Kona.
We grow, process, roast, and brew our own 100% Kona coffee, allowing us to offer a level of transparency and consistency that’s rare in Hawaiʻi. Our focus is on thoughtful sourcing, careful roasting, and brewing methods designed to highlight the natural sweetness, structure, and clarity that Kona coffee is capable of when it’s handled with intention.
Located on Oʻahu’s Windward side in Kaʻaʻawa, we’re a relaxed stop for locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re heading toward the North Shore, visiting nearby Kualoa, or you live Kaʻaʻawa and just need a good cup of coffee and a biscuit while you walk the dogs, our coffee shop is built around real hospitality, fresh daily baking, and coffee that reflects where it comes from.

Coffee Tastings and Classes
The Coffee LAB is our dedicated space for coffee education, tastings, and hands-on classes, built for people who want to dig deep into what makes coffee work.
Located downstairs from the coffee shop, the LAB hosts guided tastings, pour over brewing workshops, and courses for every level of interest from novice to professional that explore Kona coffee from farm practices and processing methods through roasting, sensory evaluation, and extraction. Using coffees grown on our Kona farm, these sessions are practical, transparent, and grounded in real-world coffee science.
